Moscow Cinema Director is in Favour of Demolishing Open-Air Hall
10:11 – 26.03.10
On March 25, a group of first-year students from Yerevan State
University of Architecture and Construction protested in front of the
entrance of the Cinema Moscow Open-Air Hall, demanding the government
not demolish it.
`As future architects, we will not allow our cultural values to be
destroyed. We’ll create an initiative group and also organize other
protest campaigns,’ Hermine Matevosyan, a protest participant, told
Tert.am.
Among the participants were also representatives of Armenian National
Congress youth wing.
Asked by students whether he was going to appeal to the government,
the Director of Moscow Cinema said, `We are in favour of it being
demolished.’
The protesters had fastened posters on the wall of the entrance that
read `Do Not Demolish,’ `Let’s Save Our City,’ `Don’t Be Indifferent,
This is Also Your City,’ and `Let’s Save Our Culture Together.’
