LOS ANGELES ‘ Robbery-Homicide detectives were searching today for the
person who shot and killed a 38-year-old Hollywood woman, whose
slaying was believed to be related to a 2008 double homicide,
authorities said.

Karine Hakobyan’s body was found by Los Angeles police in the driver’s
seat of her CRV about 8:20 p.m. Friday. The vehicle was parked on the
5800 block of Lexington Avenue in Hollywood, according to police.

The Honda was parked in a fenced, gated area, a news crew at the scene
reported.

LAPD Hollywood homicide detectives said that Hakobyan’s slaying was
believed to be related to the deaths of Khachik Safaryan, a
43-year-old Armenian man, and his 8-year-old daughter Lusine. They
were found shot to death in their home on the 1200 block of Tamarind
Avenue by Safaryan’s 15-year-old daughter when she returned from
school on Dec. 11, 2008.

The slayings of Safaryan and his daughter remain unsolved.

A $75,000 reward was offered in February 2009 for information leading
to the arrest of the person or persons who killed them.

A motive for Hakobyan’s killing was unknown.

No suspect information was available.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
