Iranian violin virtuoso Farid Farjad attracts dozens to a concert held in
the southeastern Turkish province of Diyarbakir.
The renowned musician was accompanied by pianist Armen Aharonian at an event
organized by the Diyarbakir Culture and Arts Foundation (DKSV).
Music lovers from Diyarbakir as well as from Trabzon, Agri, Sanliurfa,
Sirnak and Hakkari attended the concert held on March 27, 2010.
"This is why we wanted to share the art of the Middle East with people
living here," Turkish daily Hurriyet quoted DKSV Chairman Bejan Matur as
saying.
"Farjad is sharing the richness of Iran with us," he added.
Born in Tehran in 1938, Farjad moved to the United States in 1978 and has
been living there since.
Known as one of the best violin virtuosos in the world, his works have
greatly contributed to the development of Persian music.
Farjad will continue his 2010 Turkish concert tour in Adana (March 29),
Istanbul (March 31) and Izmir (April 1).
