ArmInfo. US State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said the USA
welcome the return of Turkey’s ambassador recalled by Ankara for
consultations after adoption of the Armenian Genocide Resolution by
the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs.
When coming out at a daily press briefing in US Department of State,
Crowley repeated several times that Washington encouraged the return
of the Turkish ambassador, but that is ultimately a decision for
Turkey. "We would welcome the return of the ambassador, but that is
ultimately a decision for Turkey", P. Crowley said.
"We have encouraged them to return the ambassador to Washington. We
think it’s very important to have him here. But that is a decision
for Turkey", he said. Crowley also said that US administration was
in talks with Turkey about not only the resolution, but also steps to
be taken in normalization process under the protocol signed last year.
"We continue to encourage them to take those important steps",
Crowley said.
