NEW YORK, APRIL 1, NOYAN TAPAN-ARMENIANS TODAY. Congressman Michael
McMahon’s March 27th fundraiser was picketed by local Armenian and
Greek community groups protests. The reason of the protest was the
fact that Michael McMahon took money from the organizations to vote
as a member of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee to block
American recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Paul Saryian, an ANCA permanent representative, said that congressional
Representatives should not be rewarded for their complicity in
genocide denial or for supporting Turkey’s current aggression towards
minorities.

According to ANCA Republican Congressional candidates Michael
Allegretti and Michael Grimm, vying for the Republican nomination to
unseat Rep. McMahon in November, have pledged support for Armenian
Genocide legislation.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
