Vafa Guluzade Azerbaijani political scientist Vafa Guluzade called on
the world community for justice and stressed the need for Azerbaijan’s
further NATO accession.

Though for some conjuncture reasons the NATO leadership is
not interested in accession of former Soviet republics to this
organization, it does not mean that we should not prepare ourselves to
integration with this organization, political scientist Vafa Guluzade
told a NATO conference held in Baku.

‘If today they do not admit us to NATO, they will admit us tomorrow.

We need NATO as much as NATO needs us. Azerbaijan is a self-sufficient
country and Azerbaijan’s participation in any organization may only
enrich it’, he said.

Guluzade noted that Azerbaijan has the only problem-the problem
of Karabakh.

‘We demand the fair outlook to the resolution of the conflict from the
world community and NATO. Azerbaijan has been subjected to occupation,
ethnic cleansing and I do not think that NATO which considers itself a
democratic organization may support this injustice on Azerbaijan. We
are the victims of this aggression, therefore, the world community
should be fair regarding the victim and the aggressor’, he said.
