"Today in our political field there are many people who have
nicknames. Having a nickname is offensive or not?" asked Vardan
Harutyunyan to the member of the Republican Party of Armenia MP
Hovhannes Sahakyan.
H. Sahakyan answered that it is the person who decides he is offended
or not, "One of the authors of the law, Ruben Gevorgyan has mentioned
that when instead of his name his nickname is published in the
newspaper ("Tsaghik" (Flower) it’s not offensive."
According to the PM some people think that the usage of the nicknames
is offensive.
To the question of Aysor.am whether any other PM or a businessman
has expressed his point of view H. Sahakyan answered that he knows
only the point of view of R. Gevorgyan.
According to V. Harutyunyan there are people who are proud of their
nicknames: "Having nicknames is not a bad thing. And is it the fault
of the journalist, if anyone has a problem with his own nickname,"
he asked.
