TURKISH FM DAVUTOGLU: MESSAGES FROM U.S. ARE GETTING MORE POSITIVE

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Thursday that the
recent messages from the U.S. were eliminating the concerns and
meeting the expectations of Turkey.

On March 4, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Foreign
Affairs adopted a resolution on Armenian allegations related to the
incidents of 1915 in a voting of 23-22. Following this development,
Turkish Ambassador in Washington Namik Tan was summoned to Turkey.

Davutoglu told reporters that they had not set a date yet regarding
the return of Tan to U.S.

Noting that he conveyed Turkey’s views, expectations and concerns to
U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton on the phone, Davutoglu said that
Clinton, in return, expressed the importance they attached to Turkish
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s participation in International Nuclear
Security Summit which would be held in Washington D.C. on April 12
and 13.

Clinton told me that the U.S. was aware of the strategic dimension
of the relations between Turkey and the U.S., added Davutoglu.

Earlier in the day, Erdogan said that he was still assessing whether
or not he would pay a visit to the United States. Noting that he would
announce his decision probably tomorrow, Erdogan said, "if I decide
to go to the U.S., I will send back our ambassador Tan immediately."

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
