ARMENIAN AUTHORITIES RESTRICTING PUBLIC TRANSPORT ROUTES FROM REGIONS TO CAPITAL TODAY: HAK

The Armenian National Congress (HAK) press service is sounding the
alarm on the news that public transportation from Armenia’s marzes
(provinces) to the capital is not running properly today when HAK is
holding its second rally this year.

HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrossian’s press secretary Arman Musinyan
told Tert.am that, typical of ruling authorities, they’ve instructed
transport route owners (each public transport route in Armenia, for
example, the Etchmiadzin-Yerevan route, is owned by an individual)
not to allow their drivers to work today. Furthermore, taxi drivers
have been instructed to take no more than one passenger at a time
to Yerevan.

"A few public transport routes, which don’t stop on main roads,
haven’t been operational today. We have received such reports from
Etchmiadzin, Armavir, Artashat and Sevan," said Musinyan.

HAK is planning to hold its second rally this year at 6 pm near the
Matenadaran (the Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts). As
previously reported, this time, ironically enough, HAK will draw
attention to the ways at which the country’s ruling authorities have
attempted to hinder HAK rallies by blocking regional roads leading
to Yerevan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
