TRILATERAL ARMENIA-TURKMENISTAN-IRAN ENERGY PROJECTS DISCUSSED

The protocol of the second session of the Armenia-Turkmenistan
Inter-Governmental Commission on Economical Cooperation was signed
Thursday by Armenia’s Minister of Energy Armen Movsisian and
Turkmenistan’s Prime Minister Khydyr Saparliev, who is on a visit
to Yerevan.

Armen Movsisian told journalists that the session resulted in
determining the concrete steps to be taken between the two countries.

He said that parties ticked the key spheres to be focused – education,
building industry, health, economy, and paid especial attention to
Armenian potential for light industry and Turkmen raw.

"There are quite large construction works, carried out in Turkmenistan,
and there is a great need in building materials there," said
Movsisian. "Mostly, they are interested in Armenian basalt and
travertine. The two countries’ businessmen have been starting
cooperation and will soon reach agreements on exporting of Armenian
building materials to Turkmenistan."

Included in the session’s agenda was item of cooperation in field of
energy. According to Minister Movsisian, parties determined possible
ways of cooperation and trilateral energy projects to be carried out
jointly by Armenia, Turkmenistan and Iran.
