Armenian forces staging drills

The Armenian armed forces are conducting exercises in the occupied
Azerbaijani territories. Different types of troops are reportedly
involved in the maneuvering taking place in the Aghdam district’s
invaded area called Uzundere.
Residents of the frontline residential areas and Azerbaijani military
officers say the sounds of explosions and shooting suggest that
armored machines, artillery and infantry troops are being used.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus republics reared up in the
late 1980s due to Armenia’s territorial claims. Armenia has been
occupying over 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s internationally recognized
territory since the early 1990s. Sporadic clashes on the frontline
continue.*
