Chair of Armenian language to open at Linguistic Center of Aleppo University
ALEPPO, APRIL 9, NOYAN TAPAN. Problems related to the opening of a
chair of the Armenian language at the Linguistic Center of Aleppo
State University were discussed during the April 6 meeting of the
Rector of Yerevan State University (YSU) Aram Simonian and the
President of Aleppo State University Nidal Shehadeh. An agreement was
reached to start Armenian language courses for Arabs and Syrian
Armenians from September 1.
The rector of YSU expressed a readiness to send a lecturer of Armenian
language to Aleppo and provide the center with textbooks, literature
and computers. N. Shehadeh said that the classroom for Armenian
language courses has already been furnished and is ready for classes.
According to the RA MFA Press and Information Department, the sides
also discussed the opportunities of opening a chair of Armenian
studies at Aleppo University in the future.
The Consul General of Armenia in Aleppo Ashot Manukian and the
Chairman of the Armenian evangelical community in Syria Harutyun
Selimian also participated in the meeting.
