ArmInfo. "We believe that Armenia must pass the way that will finally
bring it to Europe. This is where we see the future of our country. As
part of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party (ELDR), we will
try our best to contribute to this process," says Ararat Zurabyan,
Chairman of the Armenian Pan-National Movement Party, in an interview
with ArmInfo.
"Represented at PACE, and at the governments of a number of countries,
the ELDR is a very influential force. A new neighborhood program was
approved in Europe and Armenia as a member of the Council of Europe and
located not so far from Europe is perceived there quite adequately,"
he says. In addition, Zurabyan believes that this membership allows
the APNM to raise a number of domestic problems that still exist in
Armenia at a new political level. This will help expanding democratic
and liberal views in our country. The Armenian Pan-National Movement
has become a full member of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform
Party. Becoming members of the ELDR Board, two APNM representatives
will participate in all discussions. This makes the APNM a serious
force represented at the Council of Europe and the European Union at
the level of parliaments and the executive power.
The decision to admit the APNM to the ELDR was adopted on March 12
in Rome. The ELDR Congress is scheduled for autumn and nearly 10 APNM
representatives will participate in it, he says.
