The president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Prime Minister of
Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan just completed their meeting that took
place this morning in the Washington Convention Center ahead of the
Obama’s Nuclear Security Summit. CNN Turk reports the meeting took
place one and a half hours.

The president of Armenia and the Prime Minister of Turkey were
accompanied with their foreign ministers Edward Nalbandyan and
Ahmet Davutoglu. Turkish foreign ministry’s undersecretary Feridun
Sinirlioglu who recently was sent as an envoy to Armenia and Azerbaijan
was also present at the meeting.

The details or the results of Sargsyan Erdogan meeting are not reported
yet. Just CNN Turk writes it took 1.5 hours, a considerable amount
of time to discuss a range of issues between Armenia and Turkey.

PM Erdogan will meet president Obama tomorrow. Armenian president
Sargsyan has a planned meeting with the U.S. President today. Obama is
a strong supporter of Armenia Turkey reconciliation and urged Turkey
several times to ratify the normalization protocols int the Turkish
parliament signed with Armenia in Zurich last October. Armenia has
said if Turkey ratifies the protocols it will too. Turkey conditions
protocol and normalization process with Armenia’s relations with
Azerbaijan, an ally of Turkey.

In the meanwhile Armenia diaspora organizations headed by ANCA have
called on the president Sargsyan to raise the issue of Armenian
genocide recognition by president Obama, who had promised to call
the events in Turkey between 1915-1921 as Genocide.
