ArmInfo. The lack of progress in the Armenian-Turkish process before
April 24, the Day of Commemoration for Armenian Genocide victims,
will allow Armenia to turn the Protocols into mere scraps of paper,
Hrayr Karapetyan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for Defense,
Secueity and Internal Affairs, told journalists, Wednesday.

"If there is nor progress in the process before April 24, this will
become an excellent ground for Armenia to cancel the Armenian-Turkish
Protocols and come out of the process. Armenia shouldn’t at all have
started the process and signed the Protocols with Turkey",- he said.

According to Karapetyan, the Turkish prime minister’s latest statements
about deportation of 100 thsd Armenians from Turkey were also a good
ground for Armenia’s withdrawal from the process.

"However, this failed to happen",- he said. "I think we should have
used this ground and in that case the Armenian-Turkish Protocols
would have become mere scraps of paper long ago",- he concluded.

Earlier Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said: "Look, there
are 170,000 Armenians in my country; 70,000 of them are my citizens.

But we are tolerating another 100,000. So, what will I do tomorrow, I
will say to those 100,000, it’s time for you to go back to your land;
I will do this. Why? Because they are not my citizens… I have no
obligation to keep them in my country".
