The acclaimed documentary "The River Ran Red" will be receive its
local premiere at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Saxe Room of the Worcester
Public Library, 1 Salem Square, Worcester, to commemorate Armenian
Martyrs Day and mark the 95th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
In the film, director J. Michael Hagopian searches for survivors of
the Armenian Genocide of 1915 along the Euphrates River. From his
archives of 400 testimonies of survivors and eyewitnesses, he weaves
a compelling story of terrifying intensity while taking the viewer
from the highland waters of the river to the deserts of Syria –
the final resting place for many.
The event, which is free, is presented by Knights of Vartan Arshavir
Lodge No. 2 and Daughters of Vartan Santoukht Otyag No. 5. A reception
and refreshments will follow the program.
