Before his visit to Washington, Serzh Sargsyan talked about
Turkish-Armenian relations and announced: "We practically have
our decision." "A1+" tried to find out what that decision is from
Vice-president of HHK (Republican Party of Armenia), leader of the
party’s faction Galust Sahakyan.

"Armenia’s political agenda is very rich and what Serzh Sargsyan said
refers to all issues of national concern," said Galust Sahakyan.

Perhaps he meant the possibility of calling back his signature. In
response, Galust Sahakyan said:

"It is not our job to call back the signature, but we also don’t avoid
that. We will not put up with the rules of the game that the Turkish
side has already turned into a gurgling song of its own in diplomatic
relations for too long, but we will continue pursuing the objective."

That objective, according to the leader of the majority in parliament,
is the opening of the border. "Turkey must open its border with
Armenia because that is not only Turkey’s border, but the territory
of the Armenians who lost their property rights or Western Armenia,
for a lack of better words."

That doesn’t depend as much on Armenia, but Turkey, which has closed
the border. In response, Sahakyan noted: "I think the Turks will open
the border because the political arsenal of the world is so specific
and complicated that we will succeed, if we take advantage of it."

The so-called agreement on handing the two liberated territories became
an issue in the political agenda after the meetings in Washington. In
that respect, Galust Sahakyan took note:

"I see a trend. The Turks want Armenia to do something before them.

But the issue remains. Only after solving the issue regarding
Nagorno-Karabakh’s status will we be able to negotiate on any other
issue."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
