Under the slogan Green Generation Campaign the Foundation for the
Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets held a solemn tree
planting ceremony in the park near Tsitsernakaberd Genocide Memorial.

During the ceremony 95 trees were planted for memory and peace.

The tree seedlings were brought from Western Armenia. The journey of
the trees from Western to Eastern Armenia symbolizes the determination
of the Armenian people to root themselves in the soil of their mother
country and spare no effort for having a better future for upcoming
generations. A special signboard of the "Memory Park" was placed
after the planting.

VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian, Ruben Khachatryan,
Director of FPWC and Mr. Haik Demoyan, Director of the Armenian
Genocide Museum-Institute delivered speeches during the ceremony.

The event at Tsitsernakaberd was attended by ambassadors of foreign
countries, representatives of international organizations, companies
and NGOs.

Ruben Khachatryan, Director of FPWC greeted the guests and emphasized
that the 95 trees form a living "green" bridge between the historical
Western Armenia where so many Armenian perished in the Genocide,
the Republic Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora.

"Tsitsernakeberd is a holy place where we Armenians remember our roots
but it is also a place where we can brace our energies to strengthen
ourselves for the tasks lying ahead of us. To guarantee this we want to
contribute to the environmental quality of the whole area supporting
the Museum to create here a unique space which offers all visitors
the possibility to learn, to remember and to develop visions for the
future of our nation," he said.

On the occasion of 95th commemoration of the Armenian Genocide,
FPWC called not only to green the area around the memorial but also
to contribute to the scientific enrichment of Armenian Genocide.
