ARMENIAN GDP GROWS 5.5% IN Q1

Armenia’s GDP grew 5.5% in the first quarter of 2010 compared with
the same quarter last year, to 568.1 billion dram or $1.5 billion,
the national statistics service said.
Economic output in industry rose 10.4% to 177.5 billion dram and
agricultural output rose 3.2% to 42.5 billion dram. Output in the
construction sector declined 0.6% to 47 billion dram.
Electricity generation increased 9.8% to 1.584 billion kWh.
Trade turnover was up 29% to $1.013 billion, including a 60.9%
increase in exports to $198.5 million and a 23.1% increase in imports
to $814.2 million.
