TIGRAN SARGSYAN: "FOR SCIENCE-BASED ECONOMY WE NEED SCIENCE-BASED SOCIETY"

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan participated today in the
annual assembly of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences.
Governmental press service told Armenpress that chairman of NAS Radik
Martirosyan presented the main principles of the 2009 activity of
the academy, after which NAS academicians, correspondent members and
scientific workers came forth with questionnaires.
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan delivered speech saying that the goal
of each government is to have science-based economy and for having it,
it is necessary to have science-based society. "This is the promising
and long-lasting vision of development of Republic of Armenia. We do
not have alternative but to develop science and economy based on it.
The whole issue is how to do it," he said.
Speaking about the methods of evaluating scientific potential the head
of the government said that it is necessary to create an environment
which ensures link between science and production. He said for
developing science in Armenia and for improving moral-psychological
atmosphere we need successful projects and successful results.
