The Armenia-Turkey Protocols have been removed from the four-day
session agenda while they are still on the larger agenda of the
Armenian National Assembly, NA Chairman Hovik Abrahamyan said at the
opening of today’s four-day session in response to Heritage Party
Board Chairman Armen Martirosyan’s request.
"In general they [protocols] have been removed from the four-day
session. The Protocols still remain in the large agenda," said Hovik
Abrahamyan.
On April 22 Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan had signed decree
which suspended the ratification of the Protocols without withdrawing
Armenia’s signature from those documents.
"Armenia shall retain her signature under the Protocols, because we
desire to maintain the existing momentum for normalizing relations,
because we desire peace. Our political objective of normalizing
relations between Armenia and Turkey remains valid, and we shall
consider moving forward when we are convinced that there is a proper
environment in Turkey and there is leadership in Ankara ready to
reengage in the normalization process," Sargsyan had said in his
televised address.
