ArmInfo. Today President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan met with members
of the board of the National Academy of Sciences and the heads of a
number of research centers of Armenia.
The press service of the President reports that Sargsyan pointed out
three top priorities in the field of science and education: "First,
we should reorganize our training and research centers so as to make
them more efficient. Second, we should create training and research
institutions of a new type, like the modern foreign language boarding
school in Tavush. Third, we should provide our students and young
scientists with training and probation opportunities abroad. For this
purpose we will redouble the funds of Luys Foundation."
The President expressed commitment to provide serious investments
for solving the housing problems of young researchers, especially,
those who are planning to engage in serious research activity.
He pointed out the need to develop Armenian studies, to encourage
foreign researchers, to publish scientific materials in foreign
languages and in electronic format.
The Armenian academicians welcomed the President’s efforts to improve
Armenian-Turkish relations. Both sides expressed hope that the contacts
will be continued and mutual problems will be resolved.
