GALENTS MUSEUM OPENING IN YEREVAN

A museum after Armenian artist Harutyun Galents will open in Yerevan
on April 27. The opening is related to two occasions: the 100th
anniversary Galents and the 90th anniversary of his wife, Armine
Galents, Head of the Modern Art Department of the Armenia’s Ministry
of Culture Sona Harutyunyan said at a press conference today.

The construction of the museum was conducted from 2002-2009 on the
basis of the house-studio the Galents lived and created their pieces.

Harutyunyan said that 200 pictorial and 200 graphic paintings works
of both Harutyun and Armine will be exhibited in the two-floor museum.

Galents was born in 1910 in Kyurun (Ottoman Empire). He narrowly
escaped the genocide and found refuge in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

In 1930 he moved to Beirut and in 1946 came to Armenia for ever.
