"We expected Turkey to ratify the protocols but they turned to be not
serious partner," Armenian National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan
told pupils at a traditional open lesson in the Parliament.
He once again explained that preconditions should be ruled out in
Armenia-Turkey reconciliation process and the two countries had agreed
on it beforehand.
"The numerous statements made by the Turkish authorities prove that
they put forth preconditions over genocide and the Nagorno-Karabakh.
There is no eternal enmity for us. We want to establish ties, open
borders, but without preconditions," NA Speaker said, highlighting the
President’s decision on suspending the ratification of the protocols.
He said, the genocide issue is being discussed in the parliaments
of many countries and lots of states have already recognized the
Armenian Genocide, though, Armenia has a main misson: Turkey itself
should recognize the crime its ancestors committed.
Referring to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Turkey’s efforts to become
OSCE Minsk Group co-chair, Hovik Abrahamyan said we need no other
mediator in the process.
"Our mission is regulate the issue through peaceful talks.
Independence and status of Karabakh are not subject to discussion."
