Matthew Bryza Diplomat Matthew Bryza is again being tipped by Turkish
media to be the next US ambassador to Azerbaijan.

The post of US ambassador has been vacant since July.

The US embassy in Azerbaijan did not confirm that Bryza’s name had
been put forward for confirmation as ambassador.

‘Currently, we expect the White House to appoint the ambassador. The
candidate for the position of US ambassador in Azerbaijan has not
been submitted yet,’ the head of the public relations department at
the US embassy in Baku, Terry Davidson, told 1news.az today.

He said that the candidate must first be presented by the White House
and then confirmed by the Senate.

‘We do not have any statement on the issue yet,’ Davidson said.

Matthew Bryza was until last year the US deputy assistant secretary
of state for European and Eurasian affairs and co-chairman of the
OSCE Minsk Group mediators.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
