At a broadened meeting of the drafting commission of Armenia
Khachaturov said, "Increase of the conscript age will also help
reduction of the quantity of evaders of military service." According
to Khachaturov, in Azerbaijan that has bigger mobilization capabilities
than Armenia the conscript age amounts to 35 years.

Participants of the meeting discussed the results of the autumn draft
of 2009 and preparation for the spring draft of 2010. Khachaturov said,
"Whereas between 2004 and 2009 we drafted almost an equal quantity
of conscripts, between 2010 and 2016 we would have problems and the
quantity of the drafted conscripts would decrease." According to
Khachaturov, bearing in mind efficiency of the contract sergeant
service the Defense Ministry plans to increase the quantity of
contract servicemen. For example, it is going to man all posts of
junior commanders with contract servicemen.
