NEWS.am had previously reported on certain progress in appointment
of OSCE Minsk Group former Co-Chair Matthew Bryza to the post of the
U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan. According to Turkish media, his main
task as an Ambassador will be Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement and
Armenian-Azerbaijani border opening. According to the publications,
Bryza studies Azerbaijani language and is getting ready for an active
but silent normalization process.

Commenting on the rumors, Spokesman of the U.S Embassy in Azerbaijan
Terry Davidson said: "At the moment, we are waiting for the appointment
of a new U.S. Ambassador. The nominee for Ambassador has not yet been
put up in Azerbaijan. According to the regulations, the candidate
is firstly put forward by the White House, thereby approved by the
Senate."

U.S. has not appointed Ambassador to Azerbaijan for quite a while.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
