YEREVAN, APRIL 29, ARMENPRESS: Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan "Armenia"
passenger train will operate this year every day from May 3. Director
General of "South Caucasus Railway" CJSC Shevket Shaydulin said today
at a meeting with journalist that on Tuesday and Friday an ordinary
passenger train will operate twice a day; from Yerevan it will leave
at 23:20 and will reach Batumi at 17:00. According to him, this train
will be comparatively cheap.
Compared with the last year the train will be put into operation a
month earlier. According to Sh. Shaydulin, changes are expected in
the terms of the train route, too; from Yerevan it will leave at 14:10.
This year the border check will be conducted during the driving,
and if last year it was made late in the evening, which disturbed the
sleep of the passengers, this year the train will reach the border at
20:30 and Batumi – at 07:16. The duration of the tour will be reduced
in 1 hour 20 minutes.
"Armenia" rolling stock will consist of 2 SV coaches, 3 compartments
with all the conveniences and 2 ordinary compartments. In case of
order, a coach-saloon will be attached as well. In May-June the
tickets will cost cheaper than in the last year, for example, the SV
will cost 22 thousand 490 Drams instead of the 22 thousand 895 Drams
of the last year.
Director General of he "South Caucasus Railway" CJSC said that
together with the growth of the demand in July-August the price of
train tickets will rise with 1.4 index. In that case the platzcard
will make 7 thousand 557 Drams and the SV – 23 thousand 578 Drams. In
September the prices will fall again. This year, too, the discounts
for children will be maintained.
The insurance is included in the cost of tickets, and the 0.15 %
of the income will go to that fund.
