TURKISH PROFESSOR: ARMENIANS WILL DEMAND COMPENSATION, EVEN IF WE APOLOGIZE

Turkey has no official disposition over the Armenian issue by now,
President of the Turkish Historical Society, Prof. Kemal Cicek told
a conference on "The essence of the Armenian issue" held at Afyon
Kocatepe University.

According to Son Dakika, noting that Turkey has no official thesis
over the Armenian issue, the Turkish professor said:

"It would be better if we had one. Now all of us would be aware of it.

We would also learn about it at school. Even if it is bad, let us
have this official thesis."

Cicek also highlighted that mistaken are all those thinking that
after Turks apologize, Armenians will become warm and hearty friends.

According to him, the expected apology is not the destination the
Turkish people have to cross.

"I have been in Armenia. In every avenue there I saw posters
reading "Compensation is the price for the recognition of the
Armenia Genocide". This means, things will not be over even after
we apologize. They (the Armenians) will demand compensation," the
Turkish professor said.
