Armenia Clamps Down On Gambling
5/2/10 – The Armenian government has followed the example of the
Russians in confining all gambling activity to specific areas of the
Eastern European country, reports The Messenger Online.
On April 27 the Armenian Parliament introduced amendments into
legislation effective from January 1, 2013, through which gambling
businesses will only be able to operate in Tsahkadzor, Kotayk and
Sevan and in certain areas nominated by the Government such as Yerevan
International Airport Zvartnots and a free economic zone around it
which is to be created in the near future.
There are currently 11 land casinos and 103 gambling saloons in Armenia.
