`Dear compatriots,

I congratulate you on the Labor Day.

This international day is celebrated for honoring the fair work and
the worker, to promote the defense of the rights of the workers. These
are issues which are directly connected with the economic life of the
country. The international financial and economic crises had its
influence in Armenia too. The RA authorities took up and continue
taking up steps which are directed at reducing the negative results of
the crises and encourage the quick restoration. During all this time
we have watched after the social sphere attentively and have done the
utmost for preserving the working places. The state has clearly
fulfilled all the duties concerning the social payments and salaries.

On the first month of this year the economic parameters are higher
than we expected. It means that the economic growth brings with itself
new working places and growth of living standards.

Once again I congratulate you on the event, and I am sure that our
hardworking nation will continue its constructing and creating way of
life.’

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
