Coordination Council of Armenian Organizations of France (CCAF) urged
all Frenchmen of Armenian origin and people of goodwill to gather
Tuesday, May 18 in front of Luxemburg Palace to demand Senate members
to adopt a bill on criminal sanctions against negation of Armenian
Genocide of 1915 in Ottoman Empire, Les Nouvelles d’Arménie reads.
According to the source, French National Assembly made the first step
passing the motion in October, 2006. Since then the process is frozen
by Senate though publicly all parties in the parliament were standing
for the consideration in the Upper House, but no moves are initiated.
No-one has courage to include the issue into the agenda of the Senate,
all-national heritage-worthy problem based on human rights of France.
"While France becomes an arena, where more statements denouncing
Genocide are voiced, the adoption of this document will assist the
civil peace, public order and social consolidation. France has to
give an ear to its citizens, striving to protect natural rights for
dignity," journal concludes.
