Turkey wants peace and stability in our region, senior official of
Azerbaijan’s Aydinlar political party Nizami Guliyev said.
He was commenting on Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian’s
recent statement that Turkey cannot become co-chair of the OSCE
Minsk Group.
"Unfortunately, Yerevan opposes Ankara’s willingness to do so. Armenia
does not want to understand many things. For example, it insists on
opening the border with Turkey, but it does not want to take into
account the factor that it was closed because of the occupation of
Azerbaijani territories," he said.
"It is difficult to Armenia to accept this also because it is forced
to take action under the order of his patrons. Armenia’s protectors do
not want to see Turkey as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group," he said.
"I do not believe that the Minsk Group can settle the Karabakh
conflict, because the international community applies double standards
with regard to Azerbaijan. Different countries do not want a fair
settlement to the Karabakh conflict. Armenia is therefore is not
conducive to negotiations," he added.
