In case we manage to open the Armenian-Iranian railway within the
coming years, Armenia’s geopolitical role will increase, since Turkey
and Iran are competitors, Turkologist Artak Shakaryan told a press
conference today.

Political scientist Levon Shirinyan expressed concern over the fact
that Turkey and Iran are going to penetrate into the South Caucasus
and said Armenia has to be ready to resist it.

Turkey is making attempts to stretch towards Nakhijevan and Iran,
which poses a strategic danger like the bellicose statements of
Azerbaijan. Levon Shirinyan says Armenia should create obstacles for
such policy of Turkey. He stands for more harsh methods of solving
the issue

"Preconditions should be set by the nation subjected to genocide,
it’s Armenia that should try to tie the Karabakh issue to the
Armenian-Turkish relations," the political scientist says.

Turkologist Artakh Shakaryan does not support the aggressive policy,
saying that "a different way should be found."
