A rearrangement of power is currently taking place in the South
Caucasus region, and Russian President’s forthcoming visit to Turkey
is a vivid evidence of this.
The visit will have a certain influence on the settlement of the
Karabakh conflict and the process of Armenian-Turkish reconciliation.
Ex-Foreign Minister of Nagorno Karabakh Arman Melikyan considers,
however, that we’ll need to pass through 3-5 years of intensive
negotiations. President of the Liberal Party, Head of the National
Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Hovhannes
Hovhannisyan predicts rapid developments.
"Any moment the Russian-Turkish and the Russian-Azerbaijani relations
can bring to a situation, in which Armenia will be forced to make
concessions. It depends on the price Russia grabs from Azerbaijan or
Turkey. The $120 bln agreement to be signed between Russia and Turkey
is really serious. Turkey is completely changing its economic policy,
turning to Russia," Hovhannes Hovhannisyan said.
