"AIDA" ON THE ARMENIAN STAGE SOON

YEREVAN, MAY 7, ARMENPRESS: The up-to-date premiere of "Aida" opera
by Giuseppe Verdi will be held in June in the National Academic Opera
and Ballet Theater after Al. Spendiaryan, staged by world-famous
Italian stage director Mario Corradini and with the performance of
well known opera singer Hasmik Papyan.

Conductor Harutyun Arzumanyan told Armenpress that the Armenian
spectator will again have an opportunity of watching "Aida" – the
best opera by Verdi, on the Armenian stage after the pause of 28 years.

"The preliminary rehearsals have already started with participation
of the orchestra and the singers. World-famous singer Patrizia Pace
arrived from Italy worked with us for 10 years," Harutyun Arzumanyan
said adding that P. Pache who was greatly satisfied with the voice
faculties of Armenian singers helped much with her advices.

The opera which is staged with the support of the Republics of Armenia
and Italy consists of 4 actions.

Giuseppe Verdi has written his grand opera in 1870 on the basis of
the scenario of one of the ancient Greek eposes. The premiere of
the opera was held in Cairo December 24, 1871. "Aida" is a splendid
example of love and devotion.
