NKR Will See Series of Festivities from May 8-9

The Republic of Nagorno Karabakh is celebrating the 18th anniversary
of the liberation of Shushi.
Besides a governmental delegation from Armenia headed by the Chairman
of the National Assembly of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, the NKR is
expecting some also guests from abroad who come to partake in the
festivities on the occasion.
NKR President’s press officer Davit Babayan told Tert.am that a series
of festivities will be held on May 8-9 across the country. The
celebrations will end on May 9 by a concert to be held the Stepanakert
stadium, the capital city of NKR.
Press officer of the Defense Minister of NKR, Senor Hasratyan, told
Tert.am that the festivities in NKR started early this morning with
high-ranking military officers conducting lessons of courage in all
public schools and highest educational institutions.
The Ministry is expected also to convene a solemn session on the occasion.
According to Hasratyan the celebrations will start by a ceremony of
putting wreaths at the memorials built in different place in memory of
those freedom fighters that was killed during the Artsakh war. Wreaths
will be placed also at the memorial of Vazgen Sargsyan, former Defense
Minister of Armenia, slaughtered in the National Assembly of Armenia
on October 27, 1999, and also at the memorial of Nelson Stepanyan, an
Armenian hero of the Great Patriotic War.
A traditional visit is also expected to the historical town of Shushi
where a liturgy will be offered at the Saint Ghazanchetsots church.
A solemn house-warming ceremony of a new building for the families of
the NKR military officers will be part of celebrations for May 9.
