May 7 is Radio Day, an invention that changed the world, in general,
and the world of communication, in particular.

The Armenian Radio is 84, and every day it reminds that our country
entered the world of communication over 80 years ago.

"Yerevan is speaking." These simple, but very unusual words have become
part of every Armenian family, have reached every corner of the world
notwithstanding the borders drawn by the cold war and irrespective
of distance.

Any Armenian in Europe, the Middle East of distant Australia has
always had an opportunity to listen to the voice of the Motherland
thanks to the Armenian Radio.

Today, in this age of rapid development of information technologies,
when the world is flooded by most various means of transferring
information, millions of our compatriots are still linked to the
Motherland through the Armenian Radio.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
