Prospects for military-technical cooperation between Azerbaijan
and Russia were discussed in Baku. The talks were held today at the
meeting of the two countries’ defense ministries Safar Abiyev and
Anatoly Serdyukov, Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Trend.

The meeting discussed military-political situation in the region and
the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The OSCE Minsk Group’s efforts in the process of resolving the
conflict are unsuccessful, it is necessary to increase activity,
Azerbaijani Defense Minister Abiyev said at the meeting. According
to him, all efforts should be aimed at a peaceful settlement of
the conflict. Otherwise, the situation in the region can reach
undesirable level.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
