A TOUR TO BE ORGANIZED IN GAFESJIAN ART CENTER WITHIN THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF MUSEUMS

YEREVAN, MAY 14, ARMENPRESS: A tour will be organized for disabled
people in Gafesjian Art Center on May 18 within the frameworks of
the International Day of Museums. Anna Direy, human resources and
marketing manager of the center, told Armenpress that the center wants
to afford disabled people an opportunity of getting acquainted with
the presented exemplars.
Fifty people will visit the museum that day, as well as the children
of the province children houses will be invited. The center cooperates
with "UNISON" NGO and with the Association of Museum Employees and
Friends.
"Paros" song group will give a performance at the end, the majority
of which are disabled people. The tour will start from "Gafesjian"
park of sculptures. They will be afforded an opportunity of getting
acquainted with monumental works of world sculptors.
Six exhibition halls operate in the center, where the main part of
the presented works is selected from the personal collection of L.
Gafesjian.
It includes over 5 thousand works. Interesting samples of feature
glassmaking are involved in the collection. J. Gafesjian’s collection
also includes numerous paintings of such art figures, canvases and
sculptors, as Fernando Bottero, Arshile Gorky, Jennifer Bartlett and
Andi Warhol.
On May 15, the art center intends a number of events within the
frameworks of the European Night of Museums. That day from 10:00 am
till midnight the entrance will be free. The visitors will have an
opportunity of listening to live music and watching feature films on
art and feature glassmaking.
