President of Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zahir Kandasoglu
told reporters they had invited their Armenian counterparts in
tourism business, as well as a group of reporters to participate in
the ceremony of Akhtamar St. Khach (St. Cross) Church September 12.
He said this is their first visit to Armenia and they are expecting
new relations, new amity and cooperation in the sphere of tourism.
When asked whether politics doesn’t impede to the establishment of
business ties, Z. Kandasoglu said close borders certainly hinder the
process, nevertheless, they want to live in amity.
To reinforce amity, the Armenian side has been invited to participate
in the ceremony September 12 when Akhtamar St. Khach (St. Cross)
Church will be opened to services.
"What is the way to Van they should take? The open way available is
through Georgia and it is very long and bad," Kandasoglu said.
He added that an agreement might be reached to open Armenia-Turkey
border for three days so that Armenians could take open roads to
Akhtamar.
