ARMENIAN AND TURKISH BUSINESSMEN READY TO COOPERATE

Armenian and Turkish business people may become successful partners,
Arsen Ghazarian, chairman of the Union of Armenian Businessmen and
Industrialists, said Friday after heads of commerce and industry
chambers of Yerevan and Turkish city of Van signed a cooperation
agreement in Yerevan.
Arsen Ghazarian explained that Armenian businessmen and their
colleagues in Turkey, especially in its eastern areas bordering with
Armenia, may become successful partners to exchange goods, services
and culture.
He said the city Van and the same name province, once a vibrant
center of Armenian culture in Turkey, and Armenia may establishes
very successful cooperation. He added that Turkey’s eastern regions
would be the first to feel its positive impact.
Zahir Kandasoglu, chairman of commerce and industry chamber of Van,
said Van businessmen are ready for cooperation with Armenian peers.
Armenian-Turkish trade in the first quarter of this year went up by
37% year-on-year to $38.8 million. Armenian exports to Turkey nearly
doubled to $198,100.
