Armenia does not reckon with the resolutions of the international
organizations, including the resolutions of the UN Security Council,
and hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijani women refugees and internally
displaced persons are waiting for severe protest against this injustice
and support to return to their ancestral lands, MP Ganira Pashayeva,
said in her speech at the World Conference on Women in Beijing.

World Conference on Women started in Beijing. Attending the event,
women ministers, first ladies, political leaders, businesswomen and
women holding various senior positions in their countries discuss and
make concrete proposals on increasing the role of women managers of
large companies in the public-political life, government and society,
especially in the fields of economics and business.

Before the official opening of the summit, a meeting was held with the
participation of women ministers from different countries to discuss
various issues. At the invitation of the President of the Summit
Irene Natvidad, MP Ganira Pashayeva also joined these discussions and
provided women ministers with extensive information about Azerbaijan.

The MP spoke about the problems faced by Azerbaijan during re-gaining
its independence. She said that as a result of Armenia’s ongoing
policy of ethnic cleansing, more than 200,000 Azerbaijanis have become
refugees, forcibly expelled from their ancestral lands in 1988.

"After this, Armenia has started pursuing a policy of occupation
against Azerbaijan, occupied 20% of Azerbaijan’s territories and
more than 15 years, one million Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs have
not been able to return to their native lands," said Pashayeva.

The MP, who spoke about acts of vandalism and genocide on the
Armenian-occupied territories of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijanis
who are in Armenian captivity, provided participants with books and
materials about the realities of Karabakh, prepared by the Heydar
Aliyev Foundation.

Pashayeva also provided participants with information on the situation
of women in Azerbaijan. She reported on the activities of the State
Committee for Family, Women and Children, and said that there is a
positive fact that in the last municipal elections, the number of
women represented in the municipalities accounted for about 30%.

Reporting on the growing role of women in economics, business,
Pashayeva noted that an important place in the policy of the
Azerbaijani state is to increase the role of women in government and
society, business and economics. "We expect even greater achievements
in this regard in the future," said the MP.

Pashayeva also spoke about the successful results of projects carried
out on women, children, education, culture and other fields under
the leadership of the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation,
Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, First Lady of Azerbaijan
Mehriban Aliyeva. Pashayeva noted that, as a non-governmental
organization, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation carries out its projects
not only in Azerbaijan, but also the Foundation became the author of
many important projects abroad. As an example of supporting women’s
education, Pashayeva set Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s construction of
girls’ school in Pakistan, in the area affected by the earthquake.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
