More frequent sniper attacks on the border are not enough to trigger a
war, a former Nagorno Karabakh Republic (NKR, Artsakh) deputy foreign
minister says.
In an interview with the Capital Daily, Masis Mayilyan said the
Karabakh war may resume only as a result of political decisions.
“Politicians, not militaries start wars,” Mayilyan said. “What they
do now is a military blackmail. It is Azerbaijan’s attempt to resort
to military diplomacy to achieve success in the negotiations.”
Mayilyan added that neither Stepanakert nor Yerevan are going to
follow the rules of the game imposde by the Azerbaijani authorities.
Meantime he stressed the importance of being ready for any situation
and developments.
Mayilyan also said he finds Karabakh to be absolutely prepared for
a war at present.
