RI House And Senate Recognize Genocide With Resolutions

RI HOUSE AND SENATE RECOGNIZE GENOCIDE WITH RESOLUTIONS

Wed, May 11 2011

PROVIDENCE, R.I.-On April 26, the Rhode Island House and Senate both
paid respect to the 1.5 million Armenian martyrs brutally slaughtered
by the Ottoman Turkish government.

State Senator Hanna Gallo of Cranston and State Rep. Arthur Corvese
of North Providence, along with all the lawmakers present, sponsored
and supported the 2011 version of their respective bills recognizing
April 24 as Armenian Genocide Day.

Community members present and recognized on the House and Senate
floors included CPA’s, retired car salesmen, state and city workers,
philanthropists, real-estate brokers, postal workers, UPS drivers, a
priest, and many others who took the time to make sure we do our part
here in Rhode Island to keep the record straight. Maybe someday soon,
the message that we bring along with so many other states will find
its way to Washington and to our president to make him keep his word.

Don’t hold your breath, but just remember, we helped get him elected
and we can do our best to make him a one term president.

Also, newly elected Governor Lincoln Chafee issued a proclamation as
previous governors have done recognizing April 24 as Armenian Genodice
Remberance Day.

National Committee of Rhode Island.
