EU HIGH REPRESENTATIVE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND SECURITY POLICY TO VISIT ARMENIA

YEREVAN. – EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security
Policy Catherine Ashton will visit Armenia in June 2011, Armenian
Deputy Foreign Minister Karine Ghazinyan stated in the Armenian
Parliament on Thursday.
Yerevan will host the fifth round of talks on Armenia-EU association
membership on May 23. According to deputy FM, 18 out of 24 provisions
stipulated in the agreement on associate membership have already been
negotiated. The other 6 provisions will be discussed in next rounds.
She stressed that Armenia is ahead of Georgia and Azerbaijan on the
issue and European partners are satisfied with the progress.
Ghazinyan also stressed that facilitation of visa regime, creation
of free trade relations, envisaging removal of trade restrictions
between Armenia and the EU are a focal point of the talks with the EU.
