Flags honor fallen Veterans in the Valley

Saturday, May 28, 2011

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — American flags are going up all over the
Valley this weekend – as the nation pauses to honor fallen Veterans.

More than 250 american flags were placed near headstones at Fresno’s
Armenian Cemetery Saturday. The only one of its kind in the entire
U.S.

The Ararat Cemetery has been in Fresno for 125 years and many Veterans
of Armenian descent have been laid to rest there.

“The friends and families of the Veterans interred here, feel good
about it. They like to see it. They know their loved ones are
honored,” Frank Balekian said.

Members of a youth group from Holy Trinity Armenian Church helped put
out flags at the cemetery Satuarday.

They’ll be on display through Memorial Day.
