Iran Speaker against peacekeeper deployment in Karabakh

Iran’s parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has opposed the possible
deployment of peacekeeping forces to the Nagornyy Karabakh conflict
zone, Fars News Agency has reported.

At his news conference held in Baku on 2 July, Larijani said the best
way to resolve the conflict was through agreement between Azerbaijan
and Armenia, as the USA “misuses” international organizations for its
own interests.

“If international organizations were independent, we would have
another way to resolve the Karabakh problem. That is why, I think that
the deployment of international forces to Karabakh may exacerbate the
crisis further,” Larijani added.
