YEREVAN. – Crop of grain imported from Russia last year will have
delighted results, Armenian Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan
told during his visit to the Gegharkunik region in Armenia on
Wednesday.
An unprecedented rich crop is expected from every hectare. High
quality of crop is also expected from elite seeds of barley, press
service of the Ministry informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“I cannot hide my delight. Recently Gegharkunik region, that produced
bread richly, had poor crop. Now it is expected that the crop will
increase by minimum of 20 percent. This lays the basis for expansion
of cultivated areas in the region,” the minister said.
The Governor of Gegharkunik Nver Poghosyan said that current 42,000
hectares sowing lands will be expanded to 73,000 hectares. The Minister
added that Armenia will continue to import high-quality seeds from
Russia for next three years.
