Yerevan /Mediamax/. Former Armenian Foreign Minister, member of
Prosperous Party Armenia Vardan Oskanian said today that he was
leaving PAP realizing his share of responsibility in its failure,
the press release disseminated by Vardan Oskanian’s office reads this.
“The reason for my decision to leave the PAP is that the party failed
to fulfill the wish of the majority of our people, in my opinion,
– to make fundamental changes in this stage, bring the country
out of this situation and put it on the right and healthy path of
development. I quit my membership to the PAP realizing I had my share
of responsibility in its failure.
Those who are gloating over the situation around the party should first
of all be concerned about the political situation in the country. Not
the PAP but the measures taken against PAP and its leader are the main
issue. Arbitrary, discriminative and anti-constitutional enforcement
of all the levers of power was first of all a huge blow to Armenia’s
international reputation.
The second and more important thing is that these actions broke
the Armenian people’s hope for immediate fundamental changes in the
country with all its consequences”, the press release reads.
Vardan Oskanian congratulated Naira Zohrabyan on her new post as
leader of the party considering the Political Board’s decision right.
